Community Testimonials

”Hi Steve - thank you so very much for a brilliant session with the Hopeman Cubs last night. It was so much fun and such a great experience for the kids (and leaders!). It brought out characteristics and expressions in many of the Cubs which I hadn't seen before - eg kids who are often shy suddenly orchestrating the beat - really, really cool to see. I really hope we'll do something again soon, and get you back over to Hopeman.”

 Jamie,Cub Scout Leader

“Hi Steve, Just wanted to say Massive Thankyou for such an incredible start to our event yesterday!!! You were awesome it was absolutely brilliant and more than we could have hoped for. I hope you made it down to Glasgow in time and it all went well. Hope we'll be able to book you again if we run it again next year. We are all still buzzing from yesterday and so pleased with the way it panned out.”

Victoria Dodman, Friends of Banavie Park

Martin Hutchinson, Edinburgh council, Community learning and development

"The Drumfun team are brilliant at working with people of a very wide range of ages and abilities and in developing an enthusiastic team. The sessions provide an easily accessible outlet for self-expression, which is energetic and great fun"

Adrian Clark, Arts Officer

“ I cannot underestimate the effect that the sessions with Drumfun had on my team…. ….and I am in no doubt as to what the drumming has contributed in terms of communication within the group both through the drums themselves but also through personalities on an individual basis where we have to work together to make the whole thing work.”

David Thomson, Project Leader, F.A.L.C.O.N. project

"Hi Steve, Just wanted to drop you a line to say a humongous 'thank you' for your contribution to the Pentecost Hurricane. You were nothing short of sensational. Your bon vivant "loose as a goose" style, your quick smile, your musical excellence, and your zest for life are phenomenal. I have met many people with charisma in my ministry. but none with the capacity for electric winsomeness coupled with the people skills which you have mastered! Thankyou!"

Willis Jones, Pastor

“In 30 years of teaching young people in Outdoor Education, I have never come across any individual as motivated, dynamic, original and unique as Steve Sharpe and his Happyness Drum Circle. Outdoor Education at Lagganlia Centre concentrates on encouraging young people to listen, work together as a team and to try their very best. To our great benefit, these are the very things that Steve achieves through his rhythm and music. When he delivers his sessions in the beautiful atmosphere of Glen Feshie, where we are based, the result is powerful, memorable and ....very, very noisy! To see the light shining from the faces of the children during a session is quite remarkable. In our modern society, children seldom make music together in a circle, interacting, improvising and responding to each other - There must still be a chord resonating deep within, it must be something that defines us as human beings.... from many thousands of years ago... what ever it is, it is special.”

Ian Ross, Principal teacher, Lagganlia Centre for Outdoor Education

You have made a huge impact on the learning that takes place in this infant class.  The children are engaged, motivated, more likely to follow instructions and they try really hard to mimic you and copy what you are doing.  They have become more vocal over the course of the sessions and they can discuss what they have been doing with other staff members or older pupils.  Most importantly, you bring fun to their learning.  You are good for their health & wellbeing.  You build up their self-confidence and self-esteem and this spurs them on in other areas of the curriculum.  You have introduced them to the rhythms, instruments and language of other cultures.  You encourage our children to feel free and express themselves with pride.  To see the smiles on their faces at the end of each and every session fills us with happiness. We would be extremely keen to continue working with you in the future.
