CHILD PROTECTION POLICY

Statement: Children and young people have a lot to gain from music. Their natural sense of fun and spontaneity can blossom in positive musical environments. Drumfun provides opportunities for children to gain new skills, become more confident and maximise their own unique potential. Our underlying principles as regards well-being and child protection are:

• The childs’ well-being is the first consideration

• All children regardless of age, ability, gender, racial origin, religious belief and sexual identity have a right to be protected from abuse

• Children and young people must be treated with integrity and respect. Our policies: We aim to create an enjoyable environment where all young people have the right to be safe, secure and free from threat We acknowledge that young people have the right to be treated with respect and their concerns to be listened to and acted upon At all times, during children’s sessions run by Drumfun, parents / guardians/ members of staff will be encouraged to remain close at hand. When children are unaccompanied, we will hold a register of each such child, including relevant medical details and contact name and number in case of emergency. Where possible, there will always be more than one adult present at each workshop, or at least within sight and hearing of others. All children will be treated with respect. All children will be encouraged to respect themselves and each other. We will not allow inappropriate verbal or physical behaviour in any of our workshops. In any such situation, following an initial warning, a member of staff or the child’s parent/ guardian will be informed and asked to remove the child from the workshop. We will refer any suspicions or allegations of abuse to the appropriate authorities. Under no circumstances will we investigate any such suspicions or allegations. All adults working with or for Drumfun will have been appropriately vetted in accordance with the guidelines given by the relevant authorities Child Protection Committee. We will not allow for anyone other than the parent/ guardian/ member of staff to collect children after workshops have finished. Should a child be allowed to leave the workshop without a parent/ guardian/ member of staff, prior notice must have been given by the parent/ guardian/ member of staff to such effect.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR WORKSHOP BOOKINGS

 

1. Drumfun will supply percussion instruments for all participants and, unless otherwise agreed, the client will provide assistance with the unloading and loading of the equipment and setting up of the chairs. We are insured against public liability up to the value of £10 million.

2. The drums and percussion provided by Drumfun are of a high quality and are fully resilient under normal use; however, any deliberate damage to the instruments must be paid for in full.

3. It is the responsibility of the hiring organisation to provide a venue of sufficient size and a chair for each participant.

4. Unless otherwise agreed, in the case of a full day booking, the client will provide lunches for all Drumfun facilitators and assistants.

5. Cancellation will be charged at 10% after confirmation of booking, 25% if within 21 days of event, 50% if within 14 days, 80% within 7 days and 100% during travelling to or after arrival at the venue. Rescheduling will incur no fee if outwith 21 days, 15% within 21 days, and 25% within 14 days providing that the new date is set within 7 days of the notice of change. Any non-refundable expenses such as overnight accommodation or special equipment will be charged in full.

6. Payment is due within 28 days of the invoice or of the date of the event (whichever is the latter).In the case of any late payments, we will exercise our statutory right to claim interest and compensation for debt recovery costs under the late payment legislation if we are not paid according to these terms.


HEALTH AND SAFTEY POLICY
